Christmas shoppers in Cheltenham can enjoy free parking at the Town Centre East car park this festive season.

Christmas shoppers in Cheltenham can take advantage of free parking in the town in the run up to the big day, by grabbing a space in the Town Centre East car park.

All spots in the multistorey car park will be free of charge from 12pm until 8pm — when it will be locked up for the night — on Thursday 7, Thursday 14 and Thursday 21 December 2023.

It's an initiative from Cheltenham Borough Council and Cheltenham BID to encourage people to visit the town and shop with Cheltenham businesses, from the big-name brands on the High Street to the independent boutiques, as well as the variety of food and drink hotspots in the Brewery Quarter and The Promenade.

There's also the Cheltenham Christmas market to browse from Thursday 14 to Saturday 23 December 2023, plus the Cheltenham under-cover ice rink in Imperial Gardens to whizz around on, open daily apart from Christmas Day until Monday 1 January 2024.

Chief executive of Cheltenham BID, Heath Gunter, said: 'Christmas is such an important time of the year for the retail and hospitality sector, and everyone is feeling the squeeze right now.

'We encourage people to take advantage of this offer and support the local businesses.'
