Everyman Theatre live streaming to children's hospitals

The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham will be live streaming The Velveteen Rabbit to children’s hospitals, and on social media, in the run-up to Christmas.

Set to bring cheer to sick children in the run-up to Christmas, the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham will be live streaming the sold-out festive production of The Velveteen Rabbit to children’s hospitals.

Co-produced by Hammerpuzzle Theatre Company, and filmed by SoGlos, the performance will be broadcast live from the Everyman’s Irving Studio Theatre on Tuesday 11 December 2018 at 10am.

With all Cheltenham performances of The Velveteen Rabbit now sold-out, you can visit the Everyman Theatre’s YouTube channel directly to watch along.

The magical tale explores a timeless story of a child who receives a velveteen toy rabbit for Christmas and they go on to become the best of friends.

Local hospitals taking part include Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester, as well as Worcestershire Royal Hospital and Bristol Royal Hospital.

To make it feel as if the children watching are actually in the theatre, the 55-minute production will see actors say hello to all the hospitals watching. And, as an added special touch, each hospital will receive hand-knitted velveteen rabbits made by the Everyman’s knitting group, Casting On, too.

Funded by Arts Council England and the Charles Irving Charitable Trust, for more information or to get involved in this project, call the Everyman Theatre on (01242) 512515 extension 255 or email harry.charnley@everymantheatre.org.uk.
