New life injected into local school library thanks to book fund

The Crypt School in Gloucester has been awarded a grant to spend on new books from The Siobhan Dowd Trust – with each text chosen by students and supplied by local independent bookstore, The Suffolk Anthology.

Students at The Crypt School are getting some fantastic new reading material, all while supporting an independent bookstore, thanks to a new grant from The Siobhan Dowd Trust.

The Gloucester grammar school recently won an award from The Siobhan Dowd Trust, giving them £500 to spend at a nominated independent bookstore.

And the school has been working closely with The Suffolk Anthology in Cheltenham to spend their grant on new books, all thoughtfully chosen by students from each year group.

Founded by author Siobhan Dowd just days before she passed away in 2007, The Siobhan Dowd Trust works to give children and young people from all backgrounds the opportunity to read and enjoy literature.

The fund is supported by the money earned through royalties and foreign sales of Siobhan’s own books.
