A new visitor information pod is unveiled in Cheltenham

An innovative information hub has been installed in Cheltenham town centre as part of a new visitor initiative scheme to showcase more of what the town has to offer.

There’s a new addition to Cheltenham’s high street this April 2022, as Cheltenham Borough Council introduces a brand-new visitor information pod to the town centre.

The pod – known as the ‘Information Exchange’ or iX for short – is the latest initiative to help support the town’s economic recovery, encouraging both locals and visitors to discover more of what Cheltenham has to offer.

It’s part of a pilot scheme to test a fresh approach to visitor information and will be in-situ for the next three months.

The iX features digital screens providing information on what’s on in Cheltenham that week, with QR codes to discover more.

Once in full use, the public will be able to enter the pod and browse the plethora of leaflets and information on the town and surrounding area.

What’s more, local organisations, charities and projects will be given the opportunity to operate from the space on a pop-up basis, giving them the chance to engage with the public in a high footfall area.

David Jackson, Manager of Marketing Cheltenham at Cheltenham Borough Council said: ‘In a normal year, Cheltenham welcomes well in excess of 2 million visitors.

‘The Information Exchange is therefore a way of helping to inform visitors about events and things to see and do in the town that they may not have been aware of.’
