Gloucester-based Ecclesiastical Insurance is giving 14 Gloucestershire charities a £1,000 donation as part of its 12 Days of Giving campaign.

Throughout November 2020, members of the public were asked to nominate a charity to receive a donation, with Ecclesiastical announcing 10 winning charities each day between Monday 7 and Tuesday 22 December 2020.

Over 10,000 people in Gloucestershire nominated 179 different charitable causes in the county, with 14 local charities chosen to receive a £1,000 gift – including Allsorts Gloucestershire, Cotswold Riding for the Disabled and Gloucester Royal Hospital.

Group CEO of Ecclesiastical, Mark Hews, said: ‘We know that £1,000 can make a huge difference to the incredible work that charities do, and we’re looking forward to seeing how this financial boost will change lives for the better. We hope these donations can bring a positive end to a difficult year and a promising start to 2021.’

Allsorts Gloucestershire said the ‘incredible’ donation would pay for the Stroud Activity Hub to remain open for a month to offer Covid-safe play sessions for families in need, while Cotswold Riding for the Disabled plans to use the funds to create a series of videos starring one of its horses and provide sensory items such as hay and brushes, for disabled riders to enjoy at home during lockdown.
