Christmas lights in Cheltenham 2020

Cheltenham Christmas lights

What’s happening?

While there won’t be an official Christmas lights switch-on in Cheltenham in 2020, the town is set to sparkle with new decorations – including gleaming golden baubles hung from trees on the Promenade; golden holly, reindeer, stars and harps on lampposts across the town centre; and a new Christmas tree on Montpellier roundabout.

Spectacle of Light at Sudeley Castle

What’s happening?

Sudeley Castle’s spectacular light trail is back for the fifth year running, illuminating its gardens and ruins for a magical evening of music and light. Discover sparkling water features, characters from The Nutcracker and even a field of fire along the way, before stopping for a winter warmer of mulled wine or hot chocolate and some tasty food.

When?

Christmas lights in the Cotswolds 2020

Enchanted Light Trail at Cotswold Farm Park

What’s happening?

Make magical memories with all the family at Cotswold Farm Park’s new Enchanted Light Trail. See the farm after dark with an illuminated outdoor display full of colour, light and sound, including static and interactive installations. There’s also a festive shop and plenty of places to stop for food and drink along the way.

When?

The Enchanted Light Trail is at Cotswold Farm Park from Thursday 3 December 2020 to Friday 1 January 2021.

Enchanted Christmas at Westonbirt Arboretum

What’s happening?

Westonbirt Arboretum’s Enchanted Christmas trail is back for 2020, with a new illuminated light trail leading to West Pole – Santa’s outpost in the Cotswolds. See twinkling lights, friendly elves and even an appearance from Father Christmas himself; take a ride on the fairground; then browse the Christmas villages offering yummy treats like hot chocolate, mulled wine and more.

When?

Enchanted Christmas at Westonbirt Arboretum runs from Friday 4 to Monday 21 December 2020.

Tetbury Christmas Lights

What’s happening?

Tetbury is hosting a virtual Christmas lights switch-on this year, with full details still to be confirmed. Tetbury Town Council is also hosting a Christmas Tree Festival with beautifully decorated trees from local businesses, clubs and organisations being displayed at St Saviour’s Church.

When?

The virtual switch-on is set to happen on Friday 4 December 2020.


Christmas lights in the Forest of Dean 2020

Twilight Trains at Perrygrove Railway

What’s happening?

Jump on board the illuminated Twilight Express at Perrygrove Railway for a magical journey through the woods, with a stop off to see Santa and receive a gift on the way. Tickets can be booked for a whole compartment of up to six people, or half a compartment for groups of up to three people, with glass screens to help maintain social distancing – perfect for festive family fun.

When?

Twilight Trains are running from Friday 4 to Wednesday 23 December 2020.


Christmas lights in Gloucester 2020

What’s happening?

Although the lantern parade and Christmas lights switch-on event didn’t happen in Gloucester this year, the Mayor of Gloucester has switched on the city’s sparkling Christmas lights and the tree of life on Eastgate Street, so shoppers and visitors can enjoy the illuminations.

Christmas Lights at Five Valleys Stroud

What’s happening?

Stroud’s Five Valleys shopping centre has got its Christmas lights on ready to welcome shoppers back in December 2020. The display includes Christmas trees and festoon lights in the market place, as well as icicle lights and festive garlands inside the centre

Christmas lights in Tewkesbury 2020

Tewkesbury High Street Christmas lights

What’s happening?

Although the annual light switch-on with Father Christmas isn’t happening this year, thanks to the community’s fundraising efforts, Tewkesbury’s Christmas lights will go up this November 2020 to bring some Christmas cheer to the town.

When?

Tewkesbury’s lights are due to be switched on at 5pm on Sunday 22 November 2020.


Christmas lights Beyond the Border in 2020

Malvern Winter Glow

What’s happening?

Three Counties Showground is being transformed into a dazzling outdoor illuminations trail this festive season for Malvern Winter Glow. See light installations inspired by the landscape, history and heritage of the local area, with a selection of seasonal food and drink on offer too. Lucky visitors might even get a glimpse of Santa!

When?

Malvern Winter Glow runs from Wednesday 9 December 2020 to Sunday 3 January 2021.


Illuminated Light Trail at Blenheim Palace

What’s happening?

The beautiful Blenheim Palace in nearby Oxfordshire, is playing host to an illuminated light trail this festive season, promising colour changing neon tunnels; Will-o-the-Wisps; a scented fire garden; and the hillside sea of light. There’ll also be street vendors offering festive treats like mulled wine and hot chocolate along the way.

When

The Illuminated Light Trail at Blenheim Palace runs from Friday 4 December 2020 to Sunday 3 January 2021.
