7 ways you can support Gloucester businesses by treating your future self

From pampering your future self, to being virtually transported to another world — here's how you can support Gloucester businesses in 2021 by treating your future self.

It has been a difficult year for a number of Gloucester businesses with many having to close their doors to customers — but you don’t have to wait for them to reopen before you can support them.

With everything from pampering your future self with a massage or a facial, to looking forward to a tour of a brewery and seeing some of your favourite drinks come to life, in this hot list, sponsored by Gloucester BID, SoGlos shares 7 ways you can support Gloucester businesses by treating your future self.

About the sponsor — Gloucester BID

Gloucester BID is a business-led, non-profit organisation which delivers a range of projects that benefit companies in Gloucester.

This includes launching the Gloucester Gift Card and improving the city as well as providing support and giving businesses a voice.

For more information, visit gloucesterbid.uk.

1. Buy a Gloucester Gift Card

Gloucester BID launched the Gloucester Gift Card in 2020 to help encourage people to shop locally and support local businesses.

The card, which is valid for a year, can be bought online with shoppers able to spend it in 33 different Gloucester venues including restaurants, shops, bars and more when lockdown ends.

For more information, visit gloucesterbid.uk.

2. Buy tickets to a future event at Gloucester Guildhall

The doors to Gloucester Guildhall may be closed for the moment, but tickets are still available to buy for future events including music performances, comedy shows, exhibitions and more.

The venue has shared all the steps that it will take to help with social distancing when it reopens, which includes limiting the number of people attending events to keep Gloucester’s gig-goers safe.

3. Support Gloucester Rugby

Gloucester Rugby is currently playing behind closed doors but that doesn’t mean that you can’t support the team and look ahead to being back in the shed.

Those missing the roar of Kingsholm Stadium can purchase a Gloucester Rugby membership via the Gloucester Rugby website, which includes entry to Gloucester Rugby’s Gallagher Premiership regular season fixtures, European Cup pool matches and Premiership Cup pool matches – all of which are to be announced in Summer 2021.

4. Treat your future self to a spa day

We all deserve a spa day once we’re out of lockdown, but you don’t have to wait until then to book yourself in.

Like the rest of the health and beauty sector, Gloucester’s Cedar Health and Beauty Centre on Station Road is closed for the moment, but you can book yourself a well-deserved treat including facials, massages, treatments and more right now.

Appointments can be made via Facebook or on Cedar’s website and if you know someone else who deserves a treat, then you can always purchase a gift card for them too.

5. Pamper yourself

A spa day isn’t the only way you can treat your future self. Other health and beauty businesses in Gloucester, including Kara Hair & Beauty in Southgate Street, are offering clients the chance to treat themselves by having some of their must-have beauty products delivered to their doors.

6. Book a tour of Gloucester Brewery

Gloucester Brewery hosts brewery tours twice monthly, featuring a guided tour of a day in the life of a brewer, as well as showing visitors how it makes some of its beers.

As well as the tour, attendees will be treated to a branded glass, a complimentary cold buffet and unlimited samples of beer from the brewery’s on-site tap room.

Whole tours are currently on hold, tickets can be purchased as a gift voucher which is valid for 12 months and will be honoured once the brewery tours can restart.

7. Try a virtual experience

Have you ever fancied embracing your inner Indiana Jones and escaping a pyramid, trekking through a jungle or even encountering the supernatural in a haunted house?

At Gloucester’s virtual reality arcade, VRXPerience, you can – offering everything from soothing experiences to thrilling roller coaster rides.

Digital gift certificates are available via the VRXPerience website and purchasers are able to choose the start date for the voucher, which is valid for a year.
