A new business park at Gloucestershire Airport, set to bring 1,500 jobs to the county, has already had ‘strong interest’, according to the team behind the scheme.
SoGlos reported on the jobs potential of the project back in February 2022 and building work has now begun on the 30,000 square metre CGX Connect centre on the Staverton site – between the Anson and Meteor business parks – with completion expected in Spring 2022.
Funded by £1.9 million of Growth Deal money, won by the local enterprise partnership GFirst LEP, the new centre is aimed at businesses operating in the logistics and industrial sectors.
Karen Taylor, managing director of Gloucestershire Airport, said: ‘We’re already seeing interest in CGX Connect from businesses across Gloucestershire, the West Country and further afield.
‘It will play a key part in our sustainable business growth in the decade ahead, so we’re excited to now be at a point when we can start to unlock CGX Connect’s potential.’
David Owen, chief executive of GFirst LEP, added: ‘We’re proud to deliver Growth Deal funding for such an ambitious transformational project in the county, delivering up to 1,500 quality jobs.’
The scheme is part of the airport’s 10-year development plan and is being looked after by Gloucester-headquartered project managers Vitruvius Management Services, with work on site being carried out by Worcester-based Montel Civil Engineering.
