The inaugural Hucclecote Sustainability Festival is taking place this May 2023.

Hucclecote Sustainability Festival is Gloucestershire's first event dedicated to tackling the challenge of climate change – and it's launching this May 2023.

Author and environmentalist, Sir Jonathon Porritt, officially opens the week-long event – organised by Hucclecote Parish Council and sponsored by Gloucester-based Benefact Group – on Wednesday 3 May 2023, with a variety of talks, workshops and demonstrations taking place until Wednesday 10 May 2023 at venues across the Hucclecote Parish.

Sessions include a talk from energy efficiency expert, Severn Wye Energy Agency; composting for beginners with Maggi Brown from Gloucestershire Master Composters; the benefits, costs and challenges of solar panel systems with chair of the Gloucestershire Community Energy Co-op, Dr Peter Boait; former shadow environment spokesman and Stroud MP, David Drew, discussing sustainable travel; and a beginner’s guide to growing vegetables and soft fruit from Hucclecote Horticultural Society chair, Jan Broadway.

There's also a litter picking session; free bike checks and security marking; a family wildlife walk at Hucclecote Meadows Site of Specific Scientific Interest with senior countryside ranger, Robert Lawrence; as well as a pop-up market at Pineholt Village Hall, where visitors can browse and buy products from local growers, craftspeople and artisan makers.

All events are free to attend, but places are limited, with tickets available to book online in advance via Eventbrite.
