We know the drill by now. Independent restaurants, pubs and cafés across Gloucestershire have pivoted their businesses to takeaways, offering the chance for us all to chow down on delicious grub in the comfort of our own homes during the third national Coronavirus lockdown.

From home deliveries with contactless drop-offs to click and collects, these local Gloucestershire businesses are keeping the county well-fed and well away from the supermarkets. Beats dried pasta any day…

Cheltenham independents offering takeaways

The Coconut Tree in Cheltenham

With a tapas takeaway menu available for collection or delivery, The Coconut Tree in Cheltenham will bring its unique Sri Lankan street food to your door. What’s more, SoGlos’s 2020 Restaurant of the Year is offering 50 per cent off all food ordered for collection via its website from Monday to Wednesday, throughout lockdown three.

KIBOU in Cheltenham

From smokey bacon and cheese to pulled pork, Holee Cow’s signature burgers are available to order for home delivery or collection via its new app. Plus, meat-free foodies can choose from the brand-new, plant-based menu at its ‘virtual vegan restaurant’ Holee Cowless.

Maison Chaplais in Cheltenham

From freshly baked breads to artisan cheeses, the Chaplais Deli in Tivoli will remain open for essential shopping, while the Montpellier-based bistro will continue to offer takeaway pizzas, breakfast baps and pasta dishes during the third lockdown.

Once Upon a Tea Room in Cheltenham

Once Upon a Tea Room in Cheltenham is creating themed afternoon teas, grazing boxes and brunches for collection or local delivery – with its regular ‘pudding club’ platters giving families the chance to indulge in a box of sweet treats at home. Orders can be placed online directly, or through Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

Simpsons Fish and Chips in Cheltenham

SoGlos’s Takeaway of the Year 2020, Simpsons Fish and Chips offers a click and collect service, where customers can place their order online and pick it up when it’s ready, following social distancing guidelines of course. With a click and collect service, 288 Bar and Wok is bringing its sensational Chinese food to homes across Cheltenham. Perfect for vegans, there are plenty of plant-based options on the menu – and a ‘what’s in the box’ mystery meal option for anyone who’s feeling adventurous.

Bombay & Co in Cheltenham

Championing the traditional flavours of Bombay through its extensive Indian street food menu, Bombay & Co is operating a click and collect service throughout lockdown 3.0. Available to enjoy at home from Tuesday to Sunday, orders can be placed via the website to collect between 5pm and 9pm.

The Railway in Cheltenham

Keeping its famous Smokey Phi Phi barbecue fired up throughout the third lockdown, The Railway’s authentic Thai street food is available for home delivery and collection seven days a week. Customers are also able to order a range of drinks from the pub, all served in sealed containers.

Prithvi in Cheltenham

Cheltenham’s luxurious Prithvi restaurant has launched Prithvi @ Home, offering a selection of dishes, including barbecued duck breast with teriyaki pak choi and masala lamb with caramelised onion, to enjoy at home. Humble Kusina in Cheltenham

Since its launch in February 2021, Humble Kusina has introduced a taste of the Philippines to Cheltenham, offering a selection of sweet and savoury steamed siopao buns available for local delivery or collection from its bakery on St. Paul’s Lane. Super easy to reheat at home, these colourful buns make the perfect treat.

Gloucester independents offering takeaways

Settebello in Gloucester

Settebello at Gloucester Docks is offering comforting Italian food to order via Just Eat, Uber Eats or online directly, with plenty of authentic Napoletana pizzas to choose from.

Hooker & Eight in Gloucester

Gloucester’s rugby themed pizza restaurant, Hooker & Eight, is offering part-cooked pizzas and calzones to finish off in the oven at home, available for collection from Wednesday to Saturday. What’s more, its mobile pizza oven, Openside, will be fired up at Hucclecote RFC every Saturday from 12pm to 3pm, for pre-orders only.

Bangkok Canteen in Gloucester

Serving fresh, authentic Thai food that’s totally gluten-free, Bangkok Canteen on Westgate Street is running a click and collect takeaway service throughout the third national lockdown. Customers can also place an order over the phone by calling (01452) 306 288.

Hetty’s Kitchen in Gloucester

Serving its famously fudgey brownies, Hetty’s Kitchen ‘cake hatch’ will remain open from Tuesday to Saturday, between 11am and 3pm. Plus, its mail order service allows customers from further afield to enjoy its award-winning brownies without leaving the house during lockdown.

Topoly's in Gloucester

From garlic doughballs to creamy tagliatelle, the menu at family-run restaurant, Topoly’s, boasts Italian comfort food and classic dishes that hungry customers can enjoy from home. Orders can be placed via Just Eat or directly, with collection and delivery services available.

Stroud independents offering takeaways

Thistledown Café near Stroud

During lockdown three, Thistledown Café is serving takeaway drinks and snacks from its gorgeous venue near Nailsworth on Friday to Sunday, from 9am to 2.30pm. Thursday nights are for Southeast Asian food, with a range of delicious homemade dishes available to order via its website; while a mezze takeaway is available every Saturday.

Foston's Ash Inn near Stroud

Famous for its great food, Foston’s Ash Inn is open for takeaways, offering homemade pizza every Friday from 5pm to 9pm and pub classics at the weekend – with delicious roasts on the menu from midday to 5pm on Sundays, too.

Fat Toni's in Stroud

Fat Toni’s in Stroud is offering a contactless pizza delivery service and click and collect. Order online directly from the restaurant to enjoy its hand-stretched sourdough pizza at home.

Karibu in Stroud

Stroud’s only vegan restaurant, Karibu, is open for takeaway during lockdown, giving locals the chance to sample its varied plant-based menu from home. GRAZE at Cattle Country Farm Park in Berkeley

During lockdown three, customers can head to its website to order its tasty bakes and hearty dishes, including classic aged beef ragu lasagne and a Moroccan-inspired vegetable tagine, for home delivery.

Tierra and Mar in Cirencester

Craving a taste of the Mediterranean? Tierra and Mar in Cirencester has customers covered with its takeaway menu, which features a range of European dishes from tapas to Spanish style rice. Malt and Anchor in Cirencester

Malt and Anchor in Cirencester is open for takeaway and delivery from 5pm on Monday to Thursday, 4pm on Friday and 12pm on Saturday and Sunday. It’s even offering gluten-free fish and chips, freshly made to order, every Tuesday.

Calcot & Spa in Tetbury

Calcot & Spa in Tetbury is giving locals the chance to enjoy its delicious food at home, with its three course takeaway menu refreshed every two weeks and a roast dinner option available on Sundays. With all the prep work taken care of, hungry customers need only follow the enclosed recipes to finish cooking their meals at home. Orders can be placed online for Friday, Saturday and Sunday collections.

Forest of Dean independents offering takeaways

Severn & Wye Smokery in Westbury-on-Severn

Severn & Wye Smokery is running an outdoor kitchen from its site in Chaxhill, serving delicious seafood at lunch, from 12pm on Tuesday to Saturday, and supper, from 5pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Customers can also order a host of artisan products from the deli, food store and fish market for home delivery or collection via the website.

The Old Dairy Tearoom in Longhope

With its lockdown takeaway menu refreshed each week, The Old Dairy Tearoom offers a range of filled ciabattas, homemade soup and freshly baked cakes, as well as afternoon tea and treat boxes to collect from its premises from 10am to 3pm on Thursday to Saturday. The popular tearoom even does takeaway roast dinners on Sundays, too.

The Lyon Inn in Westbury-on-Severn

Available every Friday and Saturday from 6pm, locals can enjoy takeaway pulled pork burgers, tikka pitta breads, loaded pizzas, and even steak and ale pies from The Lyon Inn in Westbury-on-Severn. On Sundays, the popular country pub also offers roast dinners to enjoy at home.

Tewkesbury independents offering takeaways

The Hide Coffee and Tea House in Tewkesbury

Tewkesbury’s The Hide Coffee and Tea House will be open for takeaway on Saturdays and Sundays, with locally sourced coffees, breakfast wraps, cakes and scones among its offering. Plus, its South African-inspired takeaway dinners are available to collect every Saturday from 5pm to 7pm, with orders accepted via WhatsApp or Facebook Message.

Mezbaan in Tewkesbury

Contemporary Indian restaurant, Mezbaan, remains open for takeaways during the third national lockdown, with local delivery and collection services available – and a £12.95 meal deal offer from Sunday to Thursday each week. To place an order, call (01684) 294353.
