7 things you didn’t know about buying jewellery from Beards Jewellers

From high-quality pieces at under £100, through to bespoke design work, there’s more to Beards Jewellers, than you might imagine.

Housed on Cheltenham’s Promenade, Beards Jewellers has been a mainstay of the Cheltenham luxury shopping market for generations.

A family business since its inception in 1804, the shop is known for selling stunningly designed jewellery and watches with brands in its repertoire including TAG Heuer, Breitling, Gucci and Omega.

But despite its opulent offerings, Beards prides itself on providing fantastic customer service at competitive prices. Here, SoGlos has rounded up 7 things you might not know about Cheltenham’s most prestigious jewellers.

For more information, visit beards.co.uk directly.

1. Competitive pricing

Despite the prestige that comes with buying jewellery from Beards, prices are comparable to those you’d find in high street jewellers.

The added benefit is that as a Beards’ customer, you’re guaranteed fantastic quality, and impeccable customer care from the initial purchase and throughout the aftercare process.

2. Gifts start at under £100

While many of Beards’ brands such as Omega, Gucci, and IWC cater to a luxury market, the firm still stocks a range of jewellery and gifts much more accessible to those with a smaller budget.

Gifts such as Lalique’s Fish Sculpture come in at £69 and are available in a range of different colours, Montblanc stationery is available from around £90, while other small luxury gifts like tie pins, pendants and key rings are available from as little as £27.

3. Design your own engagement ring

Beards’ custom ring builder allows couples to design their ideal ring online using a number of different elements, which combine to create the perfect piece of jewellery – fitting both your taste and budget.

Customers can choose between precious metals of platinum or 18 karat yellow gold; and settings including six-claw, four-claw, demi set, rub set or halo; before going on to pick the shape, carat, clarity and colour of their diamond.

The ring builder is available on Beards’ website, allowing customers to play around with different styles in the comfort of their own home.

4. Go completely bespoke

If you’re looking for something even more unique, Beards’ designers can create a completely bespoke piece of jewellery using your ideas, perfect for celebrating the precious moments in life.

This could be the use of an old stone, reworking a family heirloom or designing a completely new creation. Designers will discuss budget and your ideas for the piece, before sketching a design concept, which will then be turned into a digital render and eventually a real-life piece of jewellery for you to treasure.

Beards’ managing director, Alex Rose says: ‘Whilst our heritage may be traditional, our jewellery and watches are certainly not. Our team here is always searching to create unusual jewellery and source watches that appeal to the sense of the contemporary.’

5. Spread payments over 18 months, interest free

Customers spending more than £350 in Beards can take advantage of the firm’s interest free finance options, allowing them to spread the cost over 12 or 18 months.

Customer must be aged over 18 and put down a 10 per cent deposit to be able to take advantage of this offer.

6. Not just a showroom

In addition to its stunning showroom in the heart of Cheltenham’s promenade, Beards offers a number of other services, many of which are completed in its workshop, above the shop.

Overlooking Cheltenham’s shoppers, a team of goldsmiths have the knowledge and experience to restore old jewellery, carry out repairs, cleaning and polishing treatments, ring resizing, and valuations.

It’s not just jewellery that’s catered for either, with watch batteries, watch servicing and other repairs also available in store.

7. Independent family business

A family business since its inception in 1804, Beards’ current owners represent the fifth and sixth generations of the family to take over the running of the company.

The firm has since expanded and in addition to its Cheltenham showroom, also operates a store on Bond Street in London, providing the same high-quality jewellery which earned the firm its name as a heritage brand here in Gloucestershire.

Upholding Beards’ passion for design and impeccable customer care, the company is recognised for the knowledge and professionalism of its staff.
