Showcase dancewear and fancy dress closing down in Cheltenham

One of Cheltenham’s best-known fancy dress shops has announced it is closing down at the start of 2020, selling off its stock to fund retirement.

Operating from the heart of Cheltenham, Showcase dancewear and fancy dress has earned its place as a stalwart of Montpellier. But after 30 years in the business, Showcase is preparing to close its doors in February 2020, selling all of its stock in the process.

With over 1,000 costumes available to purchase, each of its costumes has been meticulously cared for by owners, John and Heather, who are using the sale to fund their retirement.

The costume prices start at £20, and many costumes will be sold at the cost they’d be to hire, meaning customers can pick up hundreds of bargains in the sale.

Speaking to SoGlos, John said: ‘We’re very proud of the quality and range of costumes we stock. We’ve built the business up over the last 30 years, and especially with the dancewear side of things, people come from all over the country because my wife’s expertise and our range are both so well-respected. It’ll be really sad to see it go.’
